Very useful, encouraging advice for first-time authors, Julia and as a fellow Absolute author I'd endorse everything you say about them. They're a great team!

Julia, you have the answer to most of my prayers. I was actually thinking of writing a Cookbook 2 days ago, well seriously thinking. I have been thinking of writing a cookbook since I was 13 and now, I'm 17. I have done quite a bit of research, but I have to say that if I found your videos earlier, life would have been much easier for me because you have basically summed up everything that I needed to know... Thanks for that.

I am a novice at food blogging. I have been blogging for almost a year now and I truly believe that writing for others is not the point. Writing for yourself is what makes each post. And it can be implemented into book writing, as well.

As a novice who started in April, I already get e-mails asking me what my secrets are. I tell them that there aren't any secrets. It's just cook and bake from the heart and the biggest thing of all- write from the heart.

Enough with my jibber-jabber. I'd like to thank you for the book recommendation and for the two informative videos. I am really passionate about writing a cookbook and I have actually already compiled 100 of my best recipes (a self project that I did when I was 15). Now being 17, my writing is much better and I am more serious about my dreams and I think writing a cookbook is one of them.

Once, again. I can't thank you enough for these two videos! :D

Hi Julia,

Thanks for posting the vids, glad to hear all is going well with the book.

Can I ask a couple of questions? How much of the book did you have to have written when you submitted your proposal or was it just a synopsis?

Secondly, how does the whole photography side of things work? Are you assigned someone by Absolute.

And thirdly, do you get paid an advance once you sign your deal?

I love Dessert and Essence. They are my 2 favourite cookbook. David E-M is a genius and I would love to eat at the Champignon Sauvage one day.

All the best

Pete

Hi I just watched the videos and found them so interesting and I learnt a lot about the process you have to go through - I didn't realise how long it takes! I'd also be interested to hear more about the photography side of things - like do stylists do it for you or is a lot of it up to you? I hope to follow my dream someday and this was very inspirational - I wish you sooo much luck with your book!
