Snow

We get very excited about snow here in England. It doesn’t snow very often so it’s a big deal when it does. A very big deal. It hits the headlines, closes the schools and makes the transport network grind to a halt. But hey, I’m not complaining, I love the stuff. The child in me loves to watch the snowfall out of the window, then pull on warm boots for walking outside, looking back at the footprints they make as they compress the snow with a crunch. And the foodie in me loves the steaming hot drinks, the soups and the casseroles to come home to.

P.S. We’re off down to Somerset tomorrow for a holiday so I’ll see you in a week!

Hooray for snow! Even though our school didn't close: one of the few in the area that didn't...Sod's law. Hit in the eye with a snowball, knocking my glasses off...wouldn't miss it for the world. Wow you had a lot of snow, twice as much as us in little old Oswestry. Nice pictures!

Hi Craig! Hee hee, the snow ball made me laugh (I hope you're ok though). Yes we did have a lot, it started in the early hours and didn't stop all morning.

People here in southern California don't get it when I tell them that I miss the white stuff. I think I'll have to make a trip back to my beloved New Mexico again, just to get my "snow fix".

Thanks for the photos!

Awww snow! I love it, love it, love it.
Thanks for the snow photos, they're almost as good as your food ones :-)
Have a great time in Somerset, hope it's not too cold and wet.

Hi Toni, Hi Tinsie, glad you like the photos!

Thanks Tinsie, we're taking lots of warm clothes with us and you've just reminded me we should take an umbrella!

Wow, you got a lot of it down in Kent, didn't you? Here is was mostly just grey slush by the time I got outside.

Have a great holiday! x

Hi Julia! The snow was fun until I had to drive in it! Luckily, this is Britain and it didn't stay around for long! Hope you have a lovely time in Somerset and eat lots of fresh seafood!

The snow around here was a pleasant surprise for maybe a week. And now it and this weather can go for good. I heard the weatherman say how nice it would be to hit zero the other day. I'd weep, but it would freeze.
Although any excuse for hot chocolate is a bonus.

I am not a fan of snow...mostly because it goes along with cold weather. I do, however, love looking at snow through pictures and from the inside of the house. Your snow looks lovely! Perfect!

Hi Julia,

Ik think we had much the same weather as you did, only with less snow here in Holland. I get just as exited by it as you and love coming in from the cold with a red nose to a hot moccacinno. Next time I hope we'll have enough snow to make some snow angels!
