Great first attempt at a vlog! Mike
Julia, an excellent accomplishment. Normally I don't watch videos, but I sat throughout yours. You are very wellspoken and have an wonderful selection of cookbooks. I love Jamie Oliver. Thank you so much for sharing with with us.
Julia, your video is excellent! A great addition to your (already superb) blog site. Unless I blinked and missed an edit somewhere, it looks like you did this all in one take - and I know from personal experience just how hard that is to do. And you're so photogenic as well...!
Well done. Can't wait for future editions.
Charles
Mike - ah, is that the name for it? Vlog, I like that!
Teresa - what a great complement for you to watch the whole thing when you don't usually! I'm so pleased you liked it, and thanks for adding me to your facebook friends.
Hey Charles! Thanks for commenting, and for your lovely words. I did do it all in one take, but only because I haven't yet figured out how to edit, lol. I did have a few practice runs first though ;-)
Hi Julia, I really enjoyed that. Thanks for the warning on the last book, bleaugh!!
I have the nigella books and I do love Jamie. I will be stealing your idea for tabbing recipes. That is a great piece of advice.
I look forward to more vlogs :)
I enjoyed this Julia - it was great to add a voice to your words, and I found your insights on the books interesting. Of the books you mentioned, I have all the Jamie and Nigella ones. Because baking is my passion, you can't go past How to be a Domestic Goddess in my view - fab recipes, and even though they at first glance or in the process of making can seem a little offbeat, I ahve liked everything that I have made from it.
Hi Julia. You had me at "my favorite cookbooks are..."
What a great personal touch. I felt like I was able to meet the person behind the blog. Looking forward to future ones!
Great addition to your blog Julia. i have given you an award so pop over to my blog to pick it up.
Well done Julia!
I'm very impressed with your first video (you have a lovely voice by the way) and I'm already looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Enjoyed the video, Julia. Like Teresa, I don't usually watch videos (mainly because my computer is rather slow...) but thought yours was excellent. Interesting to see your favourite books - I'm a huge Nigella and Nigel fan. My favourite book of all time is The Kitchen Diaries but I don't have Appetite. My birthday is coming up though so might be one to add to the list. The 'Meat' book looks like a great one too though I am running out of space on the bookshelf...!
Very well done! Impressive for a first video!
Cheers,
Rosa
Hello, Julia -
I haven't commented on your blog since last fall, though I look at it and read it often. I LOVED the video. PLEASE take us into your kitchen and let us watch you cook. You are OUR Food Network Star!! I would love to watch more videos - particularly of cooking and baking! I'm working my way through a LONG, HOT Arizona summer and trying to use my stove and oven as little as possible right now. It's 112 degrees outside. I'm serious!
Wow, what a lovely response! Thank you all so much; it's so good to hear what you think.
Holler - the tabbing is really useful and I quite enjoy flicking through a book with my tabs by my side ready to stick to the pages.
Cakelaw - I'm not a huge baker myself but I have to say this is THE baking book, isn't it?!
Marymary - it's lovely to share favourite cookbooks, isn't it?
Angela - thank you SO much for the award! :-)
Maureen - thank you for the lovely compliment!
Antonia - I think Appetite is such good value; it's full of great recipes and there are all the variations too. And may I wish you an early happy birthday!
Rosa - thank you!
Chris - hello! Haha, how could I possibly refuse to do another video when you ask me like that! You're very kind. And oh wow, is that really the temperature over there?? I can't even imagine it!
Thank you all again for your kind comments, I'm now like this :-D
Love Julia x
Welcome Julia
Do you have any information about Egyptian food
Congratulations on being the Blog of Note today -- I've enjoyed reading and checking out the pictures. Especially the one of Hever Castle. How beautiful. What a great way to spend a day!
Julia, I found your blog today on the dashboard. ;)
I love it already.
I'll be checking back here often. I love to read and collect recipes.
Wonderful first vlog. I saw a few of the books I'd would like to get right away.
Kim
Ah... thrifty! You had me at thrifty! I'm a college student so I don't have loads of money to spend on ingredients.
How fun!! I loved your video and hope you do more. I have most of Nigella's books and only one of Jamie's which is Jamie's Italy. I have lots and lots of cookbooks. Way too many but I enjoy them all. My daughter laughs at me and puts me on cookbook and magazine restriction. Of course I don't listen.
I will be the only goat with a constructive criticism for you... but it has to do with a technical aspect, not content.
Trim up your bangs a bit before your next post.
I found myself watching them bouncing up and down on your eyelashes each time you blinked, which made it really hard to pay attention to what you were saying.
Besides, you have really pretty eyes, so why cover them up?
Otherwise, GREAT POST!

Hi Julie
Great Site, Great Video, You are a natural. I look forward to catching your next video.
I love my Nigella books, I aggree with you Ham in coka-a-cola is Superb. At special family dinners,,I always get requests for The Guiness Cake from Nigella'a Feast book. That was my first cook book,,and got me addicited to buying cook books and cake baking.

Talal - I'm afraid I don't, but if you find a good resouce I'd be interested in seeing it.
Meryl, Kim, Rebecca, Judy - thank you all for your comments!
Marchelene - haha, yes you're right, it annoyed me too watching back; I was in desperate need of a trim!
Droach - thanks! I haven't tried the guiness cake; I really must.
Hi Julia
Have you made the Irish Blue Biscuits with Cashel blue cheese from Nigella's Domestic Goddess book?
I got the Cashel blue cheese at the weekend and will them go later in the week.
D.
Hi Julia,
I found your blog through the "blogs of note" thing. Nice accidental find. I will be checking back because the pictures on here look AMAZING and I need to learn to cook better. Also love Jamie and Nigella and steal them off my boyfriend (who is a much better cook than me) whenever I can! I love Nigella's banana muffins. I think she uses caramel but I changed it to choc chips. Yum.
Vicki
Well done!! You're a braver woman than me - I'm not sure I'd want to see too much of myself on video ;-)
